Week 9 and 10 of class 11/10 and 11/17/11 (Last classes in Fall session)

I missed Week 8 of class and during the last two classes (Week 9 and 10) I worked on a copy of Monet’s “Woman with Parasol Turned Left.”   Week 9 I did not take the “Piano” picture (prior posting) because it was raining and I thought I was finished with it.  At the time of this posting I have not signed the “Piano” picture but am getting close.  I have not made any changes to it, just not sure if I am happy with the floor to the right of the piano?!?!

I think I am finished with the ‘copy’ of the Monet and I use the word ‘copy’ loosely.  With the help of Linda, my teacher, I decided to do this picture on orange paper and let some of the orange show through.  There is some orange in the original.  In Week 9 I worked on the sky first, then the grass and started of little of the umbrella.  Finished the umbrella and rest of figure in Week 10.  When I do these studies I am not trying to match the colors but play with the colors.  I am very pleased with the results.

Sheila theseare wonderful! You are learning so much about color. I love the light in her skirt. The piano painting with flowers is amazing! Keep up the good work.
